History

Power On Connections Ltd was formed in 2003 solely to provide new electricity connections under the auspices of Ofgem’s Competition in Connections initiative. For the first time, these changes really introduced an alternative to the traditionally poor service levels offered by the local utilities.

Since 2003 we have really come a long way.....

2013 - Power On Connections is selected as a finalist in the Site Preparation and Services Specialist of the Year category in the annual Construction News Specialist Awards

2011 – Power On Connections opens London office to better service the South East following record numbers of projects secured in and around the region.  Power On’s current portfolio of works within the London Region include major landmark projects such as The Kings Cross Redevelopment

2011 – Power On currently employs over 130 members of staff

2010 – On 8 December 2010 –Power On Connections along with GTC both part of International Energy Group (IEG) changed ownership to Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P.   Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P. was established by Brookfield Asset Management as its primary vehicle to own and operate high quality, long life infrastructure assets on a global basis. 2008 – Power On Completes First Primary Substation – The 33kV substation and all associated infrastructure was completed and ahead of programme.

2008 – Commissioned to connect 60 projects across Birmingham City – affirming our market growth within the Midlands, our first core area.

2008 – Power On Connections is acquired by GTC formerly known as the gas transportation company, the market leading Utility Infrastructure Provider who specialise in delivering cost effective gas, electricity and water connections to residential developments

2007 – Awarded contract for first primary substation.  Prologis Park, Pineham Northamptonshire became the first primary substation project awarded to the company from major league developers Prologis. 

2007 – Ranked 72nd in the Virgin Fast Track 100 League –The Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 is a business league table which ranks Britain’s one hundred private companies with the fastest growing sales over the last three years. This years’ league table features a diverse cross section of companies and includes many household names such as Innocent drinks, Gü chocolate puddings, Tyrells potato chips and Abel and Cole, the organic produce home delivery company.

2007 – Announces record growth of 60% for the last financial year

2005 – Leicestershire New Business of the Year Award – Power On Connections achieved the New Business Award at the Leicestershire Business Awards in 2005, marking a great start in the company’s growing success 

2003 - Power On Connections was established and was the 1st Independent Connections Provider to successfully undergo the Lloyds two stage accreditation, following the deregulation of the electricity connections market.
