Cable Jointer Apprenticeship
Power On Connections take on a number of apprentices each year to train as LV and HV Cable Jointers.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity to learn specialist skills to follow a career with excellent prospects. Power On Connections primarily choose to build new networks using their own skilled workforce and the prime purpose of our apprenticeship scheme is to increase the number and skills of, our directly employed operative teams.
Our aim is to develop apprentices over a three year period this consists of a two year apprentice training programme followed by one year to develop through on the job training. We believe this equips each apprentice with a suitable skill set to allow them to operate as “team leaders” running the day to day cable jointing activities, dealing with the construction site management, as well as our own office and site based staff.
Professional training agencies provide elements of the training off job and there is a requirement to attend their training centres during an apprenticeship. During their training, the apprentices are required to stay in selected accommodation for weeks at a time, returning home most weekends.
Most of the training is ‘on job’ on building sites throughout the region with experienced teams where initially the apprentice is assigned as a third person to an existing team. Each apprentice has a Personal Manager and Mentor. They have access to trainers and support staff for assistance from the Training Centre at all times.
Apprentices will achieve a City & Guilds 2339-17 in Electrical Power Engineering.
